Cards or Cats for U.S. Army All-American?

Earl Heyman is one of a pair of U.S. Army All-Americans from the state of Kentucky, and like most of his teammates, he is humbled by the honor and experience of playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game on Saturday. Heyman has yet to make a college decision, but it looks like it will come down to two in-state schools.

"It meant a lot when I got invited to the game," said Earl Heyman. "I had worked so hard, and I had set my goals and my standards so high for myself that it meant a lot to see them finally come true."

Playing in the U.S. Army All-American game is a big honor, but one gets the feeling that Heyman would show up if a nerf football were being tossed around in the driveway.

"I'm just looking forward to playing in the game. I love playing football. It could be at the Alamodome or in the back yard. "It wouldn't matter; it's football."

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is played in San Antonio, Texas., at the Alamodome on Jan. 15, 2005, and broadcast nationally on NBC at 1 p.m., Eastern. Heyman is another two sport star that has had trouble setting up his official visits because of his commitment to basketball, but he has found time to set three visits later this month, although it's really two schools battling for his signature.

"I just set up visits. It's almost impossible because of basketball to take visits, but I'm going to Louisville over the Martin Luther King Holiday. I go to Boston College on the 21st and Kentucky on the 28th. Louisville and Kentucky are my top two.

Playing for the home state seems to be a big draw for Heyman.

Louisville: "It's my home town school. They're doing really well. The program is doing really well. They're on the up and up, and I'd get a chance to come in and play."

Kentucky: "It's an SEC School. It's another in state school. I have great friends from there that are pulling for me to go to Kentucky. Not only is it an SEC school, the people are really, really good. I like the people at Kentucky. I like the coaching staff and the recruiters. Plus they are just getting off probation which makes them excited."

Heyman looks like he will make a choice between the Cards and the Cats, but first he must represent the state of Kentucky, and the East squad on Saturday.
